復活祭 Pâques

だいぶ前になりますが、4月の8日だったかな、2012年の復活祭（パック）。今年はお庭で「卵探し」しました！
It's been a while... on the 8th of April this year, Easter (Pâques)? We did "egg hunting" in our little garden.

こんな感じに卵を隠して…。子供と一緒に探しました。
I hid the eggs and biscuits like this. And my son looked for them.

Fish cookies. お魚クッキー。

初めてだったけど、アメリカの友人からやり方を教えてもらい、色紅使って作りました。
It was the first time to make Easter eggs for me. An American friend of mine taught me how to do it using a food coloring.

毎年恒例、フランスから届いたJeff de Brugesのチョコたちかわいい！！！！
Sweet things arrive every year...from France! I love these Jeff de Bruges chocolates!

Presidential Election 大統領選挙

今年は大統領選挙の年です。カールおじさんは日本にいるので、大使館で投票しました。私（と息子）も面白そうなのでついて行ったのですが、日本と違うところがあって、興味深かったです。
It's the year of the Presidential Election in France this year. Those who are in foreign countries, like Carl, go to the embassy to vote. Our son and I also went there because it must be interesting to see the vote of another country.

まず、大統領なので直接選ぶ、ということもありますが、一次投票と決選投票があること。
今年は4月の22日と5月の6日と、2週間空けて2回。
The big difference is that they directly choose their leader (president) while we can't do it for our prime minister. And also they vote twice. In 2012, the vote No.1 was on April 22th and the second ballot was on May 6th.

The campaign posters of the candidates at the first vote. They look cool just because it is written in French...(not sure how French people see them).

投票方法も違う。日本では投票所で紙に名前を書いて、二つ折りにして箱に入れますが、フランスでは各候補者の名前が書いてある紙が送られて来て、それを試着室のようなカーテンばりの仕切りの中に入って封筒に入れ、投票するらしい。思わず、紙がもったいないと言ってしまったけれど、日本のように誤字による無効票は減るね。
（ところで、その紙が直前の金曜に届いたのは、大使館の人手不足のせいだろうか？それともフランス時間？）
The way of vote is different. In Japan, we write a name of your choice on a piece of paper at the polling place, fold it in half and put in a box. In France, on the other hand, the pieces of paper in which the names of candidates are already written are sent to you and you put your choice in an envelop in a compartment with a curtain at the polling place. I thought the rest of the paper would be rubbish and it may not be a good idea, but it can also avoid invalid votes by spelling wrongly.
(By the way, the sheets of paper arrived only two days before the election on Friday. Was it because there're not enough workers in the embassy or was it because c'est la France...)

決選はこうなりました。現職：ニコラ・サルコジ 対 新人：フランソワ・オランド
The second ballot turned out like this: The incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy vs. a new comer Francois Hollande.

決選投票では、カールおじさんの同僚が海外出張中で投票できないので、「代理投票」を頼まれました。これも違う。日本では身体的に不可能な場合を除いて、代理はできず、期日前投票がある。ちなみに、フランスの義妹も国外にいて投票できないため、両親に代理投票を頼んだけど、その事実は事前に役所や警察に登録していたみたい。日本では…大使館が管理しているため、その辺はちょっといい加減な感じっぽい…。
Another difference was that Carl's colleague was in France for business and couldn't vote, so he asked Carl to do it for him. In Japan one can't vote for others except for the physically-disabled cases. We can vote beforehand at city halls or major stations instead. In addition, my sisters-in-laws were not in France on the day so they asked their parents to do it. In that case, they go to a city hall or a police station to register their parents as their representatives. In Japan... the embassy didn't look that strict about the case.

ちなみに、出がけにカールおじさんは開票の手伝いをお願いされていた…。もちろん、息子がいたから早く帰らなきゃいけないので断っていたけれど。
Carl also asked to help counting the votes after voting, of course, he said no because we had to come home early for our son.

どうでもいいけど、私「サルコ」っていうあだ名好きだったんだけどなぁ〜。投票用紙を見て、息子はサルコを指差していました。オランドってフランス語で「オランダ」って意味だから、ちょっと面白い。他にもGermanという苗字の人もいるけれど。国内外で、彼は「ミスタープリン（足元おぼつかない感じ）」と呼ばれているけれど、どうなるんでしょうか…。
It's rather ridiculous but I like the nickname "Sarko". Our son pointed (chose?) at Sarko when Carl showed him the voting papers. It's also funny that Holland in French means "Nether lands". I know there are people whose name is German, too. Hollande is called "Mr. Pudding (unsteady)" :-( Is he really alright as a president?

Open Gate (Friendship Day)

3月末と4月中旬に、米軍基地のオープンゲートイベントに行ってみました。
We visited the open-gate events at the US military base in March and April.

まず、3月末は横須賀スプリングフェスティバル。横須賀には一度行ったことがありますが、基地以外はほとんど見なかったので、今回は三笠公園も目的に。
In March, it was Yokosuka Spring Festival. I've been to Yokosuka once, but I didn't see anything other than the base then. I was looking forward to seeing Mikasa Park.

とりあえず、京急のこっち方面は滅多に乗らないため、間違えて逗子の方に行ってしまった…。なんとか汐入に着いて、歩いて行くと、今回開くゲートのずいぶん手前から行列して、警備員さんによって整理されている。。。なんとか三笠公園内に入って、戦艦に感動しつつ、、、またすごい行列が続く。ロープまで張ってあって、ディズニーかそれ以上。結局ゲートくぐるまでに1時間以上はかかりました
We seldom use Keikyu line to the Yokosuka direction, so we got on a wrong train to Shinzushi. We somehow arrived at Shioiri station and walked to the gate to find a long queue, well almost a crowd. We waited for a while just to get in the park and amazed by the former battle ship Mikasa and then found another long line. There were even ropes to form the line just like Disney Land. We waited more than an hour just to get through the gate.

手荷物検査があるのですが、その前にカールおじさんだけIDチェックを受けていた…。軍の人ときちんと見分けるためらしいが、こんな軍人いても使い物にならないと思う。
Before the security check, Carl was required to show the guard person (I think Self-Defence guy) his ID. It's to tell military and outsiders but I don't think Carl can never be successful in the military service.

みかさ Mikasa

中も大混雑。ピザのスタンドにあり得ないくらいの行列が…とりあえず、空いているスタンドでハンバーガーを買ったりして、一通り見て、レーズンとナッツを買って帰りました…。しかもカメラのキャップなくすし
消防車はピエも少し興味を示していました。この後ろにある高校と、私の母校が姉妹校関係で、一度来たことがあるのです。
There're so many people inside too. I was surprised to see an unbelievably long line before a Pizza stand. We got some hamburgers at a less-crowded stand, looked through, bought some raisins and nuts and went home. I also lost the lens cap of my camera...:(
Pierre was a bit interested in the fire truck. The high school behind the truck was the sister school of my old school and I visited there once.

4月は根岸住宅のフレンドシップデー。In April, Friendship Day at Negishi housing area.

こちらは横須賀とは比較にならないほど待たずに入れました。近いし、こっちにはまた来よう…（近いうちに返還されるということだけど）。
It was far less crowded than Yokosuka. Moreover, it's closer. I think we'll visit there again (but I heard it will be returned to Japan in the near future).

こんな感じ。またまたハンバーガーを食べて、色々買い物。日本の出店もたくさんあって、息子はオモチャ屋さんでプラレール買いました…。そして巨大（そこまででもない？）ピザを買ってゲートを出ました。お天気もよかったから、根岸森林公園で少し子供と遊んで帰りました。
The festival was like this. We ate hamburgers again and did some shopping. There were also various stands of Japan side and our boy bought a pla-rail train at a toy shop. We also bought a really large-sized pizza and got out. The weather was great and we played in Negishi Shinrin Park a bit.

戦利品。アメリカンな食べ物！ルートビアは高校生の時、ホストファミリーに勧められて飲んで以来…。カールおじさんも「うがい薬の味」と形容していたけど、やっぱりフランス人もそう思うんだ＾＾；私もイソジンの味だと思う。
What we've got. All American foods! I tried root beer recommended by my host family when I was at high school... Carl described the taste as "gargling" and so did I.

子連れランチ Lunch with little ones

ご主人の実家のある九州へ引っ越す友人を囲んで、ランチ会をしました。
学生時代の、今ではマダムの友人4人と、その子供3人、渋谷のdaylight kitchenの個室を予約して。
We had lunch with a friend who was to moving out to Kyusyu, her husband's hometown. With my college friends, who are all married now and also with three kids, at a restaurant in Shibuya, daylight kitchen. We were lucky enough to be able to reserve a room.

個室は大人10人までOKで、人数的に相部屋をお願いしたい…という感じだったのですが、なんとか貸し切り状態のまま当日を迎えることができました。そんなわけで、子供たちものびのび。個室じゃない場所も子供連れのお客さんでいっぱいでした。ちなみに、3月から大人一人2000円のオーダーチャージがついたらしい。でも個室料などもないし、かなり良心的です。
The room can hold ten adults and actually we were asked to share the room with another group, but fortunately, there wasn't another one on that day. So the kids played around as they wanted. The restaurant was occupied mostly with customers with children (babies). By the way they started charge "making an order more than 2000 yen par adult" but there's no room charge and I think it's nice!

こちらはお子様デリプレート。原則持ち込みは禁止らしい。
でもお子様メニューも充実かつ安心素材。
Kid's deli plate. We can't bring in other food. They have various food for kids and they pay a lot of attention on the materials.

おとなメニューも美味しかった！！副菜のかんぴょうのトマト煮がすごく美味しくて、かんぴょうってこんな風に使えるんだ！と家でも作ってみました。
The menus for adults were delicious too! I particularly enjoyed kanpyo with tomato sauce and I even cooked it back at home.

お子様はうちの子を中心に半年ずつ違う感じで、女の子はやっぱ可愛いなぁって思ったし、お兄ちゃんは一応同じ学年になるけど、全然発達度合いが違って、完全に赤ちゃん脱却している（ベビーカーに乗っているのが不思議に思えるくらい）。
There was a boy about 6 months older than Pierre and a girl about 6 months younger. She's so lovely (I love girls!). And the boy will be the same school age as Pierre, but he's much more matured (it looked even weird that when he's on a stroller because he's also tall).

お兄ちゃんも電車が大好きで、ピエと電車の本を見ながら、ピエの指した電車の名前をお兄ちゃんが言うと、二人でキャッキャと大興奮していた。
He likes trains, too, and he and Pierre enjoyed looking at the train book: Pierre pointed at a train and the boy said the name of it, and they got both excited.

友人の子供と会わせるのは初めてだったから、本当にうれしかったし、楽しかった〜。
It was the first time to meet up with kids, so I was so happy.

せっかく東京に出たので、そのまま私の祖母を訪ねたのですが、久しぶりだったからか、大泣きしてしまったピエさん。。。公園で遊んだら、慣れたけど、場所見知りかなぁ？
After that, we dropped by my grandma's but Pierre cried there.... He stopped crying and enjoyed playing when we got out to a park nearby. Mmm, he was scared because it's a new place?

Birthday Bread 誕生日パン

記事がたまりまくっている。。。
だいぶ前、2歳のお誕生日祝いに、本人はケーキをあまり食べないので、お誕生日パンにしました。そして、食べてくれるように（？）本人が愛して止まない成田エクスプレス型！
Oops, I have too many things unwritten...
It's been a while but I baked a "birthday bread" for my son on his second birthday. He doesn't like cakes, so I baked bread instead! In addition, the bread was decorated as "Narita Express", his best favorite train in Japan.

…JRとNEXって書けば、成田エクスプレスになるんだよ…そういうことにして。
本人はとりあえず、認識してくれたみたいで、喜んでいました♪
Well, for those who don't know the train in question, please don't google for the photo. It turns into Narita Express just by adding "JR" and "NEX"! At least my son recognized it and was happy.

ちなみに、私の実家と夫の家族in Franceとスカイプ2元中継で誕生会しました。
By the way, we video-chatted with my parents and my in-laws in France over Skype to celebrate his birthday together.

抹茶のマカロン Macarons Matcha

新しい家＆ビルトインの大きめオーブンになってから、マカロン作り研究再開。そして、なんとなく形になってきました。
今一番うまく行くレシピを忘れないように記録。
Since we moved in the new house with a built-in microwave oven, I started to bake macarons again. And I think now I can really call them macarons! So I will note the best recipe at the moment to remember.

最近のお気に入りは抹茶マカロン＆こしあん。
The latest favorite is Matcha macarons with smooth bean jam.

材料　Ingredients
アーモンドパウダー　60g of almond powder
粉糖　110g of powdered sugar
卵白　２個分（60gくらい）2 egg whites (about 60g)
グラニュー糖　25g of granulated sugar
抹茶　5g of matcha

1) アーモンドパウダーをこし器でこして、更に粉糖、抹茶と混ぜてふるう。
Push the almond powder through a tamis and then add the powdered sugar and the matcha. Then sift them together.

2) 卵白を泡立て、2回に分けてグラニュー糖を加えてツノが立つまで泡立てる。
Beat the egg white, adding the granulated sugar in two times, and beat them until stiff peaks form.

3) 粉類をメレンゲに加える。私はいつも二回に分けて。スパチュラで、ボウルの側面から生地をひっくり返すようにして混ぜると、泡がつぶれにくい。Add the powders into the egg white, I usually do it in two times. With a spatula, try to turn the mixture over so that the foam won't break down.

4) 大体混ざったら、マカロナージュする。スケッパー（カード）を使って、ボウルに生地を押し付けるようにして適度に泡をつぶす。生地の光沢とリボン状に落ちるのが良い状態。When it's roughly mixed, do macaronage. Using a skepper, push the mixture onto the bowl to break the extra bubbles. It's done when the surface is shiny and it drops smoothly but not too liquid.

5) 絞り袋に入れて、生地を絞り出す。私は義母にもらったマカロン用シリコンシートを使っていますが、クッキングシートでも。シリコンだときれいにはがれます。天板に段ボール紙を敷いて、その上にクッキングシートをのせます。真上から動かさずに絞り出し、2センチ程度で止める。マカロン間は十分にあける。
Put it in a piping bag. I use a silicon sheet for macarons that my mother-in-law gave me, but I use baking sheets, too. Macarons leave perfectly if I use the silicon sheet. I also put a sheet of carton paper under the baking sheet. Pipe it on the sheet, keep it upright, until about 2 cm. Keep enough distance to other macarons.

6) そのまま数時間乾燥させ、触っても指につかないようなら準備OK。夏場は結構時間がかかります。Leave them for several hours to dry until they make skins. It takes many hours in humid summer.

7) 160℃に余熱したオーブンで12〜3分焼きます。オーブンの下火が強いと割れ、上火が弱いと冷えた時にぺしゃんこになるで、オーブンの一番上の段（うちのは天井ほぼスレスレ）で焼きます。途中で天板の奥と手前を入れ替えます。Bake in the oven preheated at 160 degree C for about 12-3 minutes. They make cracks when the lower heat is too strong, and they bust when the upper heat is weak, so I put them on the top position (very close to the ceiling of the oven). Turn the board in the middle.

8) 十分冷めたら、シートからはがして中身（写真はあんこ）をのせてもう１つのマカロンではさんでできあがり。Cool them and remove from the sheet. Put the bean jam, ganache or whatever and bind with another macaron. Enjoy!

アンパンマンこどもミュージアム＆モール Anpanman Kids Museum and Mall

息子の２歳の誕生日に、パパが有休をとってアンパンマンミュージアムに行きました！というのも、最近アンパンマンを認知して好きになったからです。当日はあいにくの雨…。それでもなかなかの混雑ぶり！平日なのに！
Carl took a day off on our son's second birthday and we visited Anpanman Kids Museum and Mall in Yokohama. For one reason, Pierre recognizes Anpanman and friends and he likes them a lot now! However, it was raining on the special day... and the museum was so crowded even on a rainy weekday!

ミュージアムは大人も子供も1000円。子供はオモチャがついてきます。
まずはエレベータで3階に上がり、下りていく感じ。
The fee for both adult and child is ¥1000, but it comes with a toy for children. We first went up to third floor on an elevator and then we came down.

エレベータを降りると、キャラクターがお出迎え。Right before the elevator on the third floor, the characters of Anpanman welcomed us.

いろんなテーマのジオラマ。Vrious dioramas.

体験スペース。母的にはジャムおじさんのパン工場が気に入りました（笑）
もちろん自分もそうですが、我が子の撮影に必死な保護者の方が多いので、気をつけないとぶつかりそうになります…。
Experience Zone. I liked the uncle Jam's bread factory very much;-)
Many parents/caretakers, including myself, were too busy taking pictures of their child(ren) and we have to be careful not to bump on to the others.

階段で2階に下りると、SLマンや屋台（？）など出たり入ったりできる物が展示。
Then downstairs, there were SL man and some fake food stands where children can get in and out to play.

子供が遊ぶスペース。結果的に息子はこの子の遊んでいたオモチャを横取りしました…。ごめんね。。。お姉さんたちによる紙芝居や手遊び歌などもあり、楽しいです。
Kids' playing space. As a result, my son took over the toy that the boy was playing... Sorry! There were also ladies who did picture story shows or sang songs. Lots of fun.

更に1階に下りると、滑り台やボール遊びができる広めのスペースと劇場があります。滑り台は３歳から。残念…。劇場に早めに入って次の上演を待っていたのですが、元々ジュースを飲ませるのを忘れていて、中では飲食禁止で再入場不可なので、困りました…。ずっと「じゅーす！」と懇願する息子をはぐらかしつつ、でもダメでパパと一度外へ。そうしたら、会場整理が入って「お連れの方はまだですか〜？」と催促され、ヒヤヒヤでした…。
Finally on the first floor, there were slides and ball-playing area and a theater. Sorry Pierre, your favorite slide is from 3 years old and up. We were seated in the theater to wait for the next show, but Pierre couldn't wait. We forgot to give him some juice before entering the museum and eating and drinking is not allowed inside. So he kept asking "Juice!!"... So Carl took him out to get some fresh air and then a staff started to organize the vacant seats. She asked me when the two would return and I must have them there soon. I was really upset...

なんとか間に合い、食パンマンが登場し、更にお姉さんとアンパンマンが。Soon Carl and Pierre came back and then there came Shokupanman, a female friend of Anpanman and Anpanman!

喜んではいたけれど、アンパンマン＜ジュース　でしたね。Pierre liked it, but he liked juice more.

15分ほどでショーは終わるので、その後軽くミュージアムショップを見て、そくささと退場。
The show was about 15 minutes and then we took a quick look at the museum shop, and we got out.

でもね、このコインロッカー、100円が戻って来るタイプだったんだけど、あわてすぎて、100円置いて来てしまいました…しょっく！！
This locker... we put 100 yen and it returns when we finished using it. I was too much in a hurry and forgot to take the 100 yen!!

お昼はモール内のドキンちゃんカフェで。キッズメニューもかわいい！でもポテトしか食べなかった…。
We had lunch at Dokin's Cafe in the mall. This kid's menu was so pretty, but Pierre ate only the french fries.

私はフレンチトーストを。かわいい〜☆
I ordered French Toasts. So cute!

本人も楽しめたようで、よかったです。
We had a great time:)

三井アウトレットパーク 横浜ベイサイド Mitsui Outlet Park Yokohama Bayside

だいぶ前の話になりますが、横浜のアウトレットに行ってきました。ここも、あることは知っていたし、いつか行こうと思って、今日に至る場所の１つでした。

きっかけになったのが、ごはんかいじゅうパップ。息子がこのキャラクターが好きなので、喜ぶかと思い、スタンプラリーに参加することに。

It's been a little while, we went to an outlet mall in Yokohama. I know it's there and I'd been always thinking of going but never...
The trigger to the visit was the favorite TV character(s) of my son, Rice Monster Pap. And there was a stamp rally event held at that time.

Yokohama Seaside Line　横浜シーサイドライン
新杉田から乗り換え。初めて乗りました（ちょっとお高めなのね）！
We changed trains at Shinsugita. The first time for all of us (and it's a bit expensive)!

２つ目の駅で降りて、海に向かって歩くと…アウトレット到着！西欧の港町風の作りで、オシャレです。
We got off at the second stop and walked toward the sea... and arrived at the outlet park. All the buildings look like a port town in Western countries.

園内を小さい機関車風の車が走っていて、ピエも大興奮。今回はお天気もよくなかったから乗らなかったけど、また今度。しかし、改装中で閉まっているお店が多く、残念…（まぁ買い物目的じゃなかったけど）。
A small steam-train like car was running around the park and Pierre loved it a lot. We didn't get on it because of the weather. Maybe next time. And most of the shops were under reconstruction and closed...(although we were not there to do shopping then).

イベントの中心とも言える、お米教室にも参加してきました。本来小学生くらいが対象だと思うのですが、それより小さい子ばかりで、司会のお姉さんもちょっと困っていらした＾＾；
We also joined in the event, a class on rice (because pap is rice and he is to promote rice consumption, I believe), too. It was aimed at children of school age, but there were more younger ones and the MC lady was a bit confused.

すぐ横がマリーナ。船やらヨットやら。パーク内のレストランは混み混みだったので、こっちのカフェでお昼を軽くいただきました。
There's a marina just next to the park. Boats and yachts reminds me of Saint Malo. The restaurants in the outlet were all crowded at lunch time so we had a little meal in the cafe of the marina.

横浜港付近観光 Sightseeing Around Yokohama Port

この日はお天気もよかったため、市営バスの一日乗車券を駆使（？）して港付近を観光することに。一日乗車券は大人600円で一日乗り放題。最近いろんなバスに乗って，路線にも詳しくなりつつある私…。
It was such a beautiful day and we decided to look around Yokohama port making use of One-Day Pass of Yokohama municipal bus. It is 600 yen for adult. I use various busses these days and becoming an expert...

ベイブリッジ渡っています〜。ちなみに、桜木町からベイブリッジを渡って大黒ふ頭へ行く循環バスは本数が少ないため、今回は降りずにそのまま乗って山下で降りました。大黒ふ頭にも公園があるので、次回はそこにも行きたい。ちなみに、鶴見方面へのバスは本数があるので、次回はそっちからだな。
We're crossing Bay Bridge! For your information, the round-trip bus from Sakuragicho to Daikoku Futo doesn't run a few times a day. So we continued the trip back to Yamashita. We'd like to visit the park in Daikoku Futo again so maybe we'll use busses from Tsurumi because which run more often.

こうして見ると、横浜が大きな港であることを再確認。ちなみに、休日に大黒ふ頭に行くバスはガラガラでした…。
We can recognize the fact that Yokohama is a large international port like this. The bus to Daikoku Futo was almost empty on Sunday by the way.

山下から今度はマリンタワーへ。去年は区民半額デーに行きそびれてしまって残念だった…仕方ないので正規料金を払って。せっかくだから、氷川丸とのダブルチケットで850円というのにした。ちなみに、私は幼稚園の遠足ぶりでした
From Yamashita, we headed to Marine Tower. There were Citizen's Discount Months last year but we missed the chance... so we paid the full fee, but with a ticket to Hikawamaru boat which was ¥850 for adult. The last time I visited there... it was a school trip at kindergarten!!! Don't count the years.

ところで、前を歩いていたカップルの男性が、「マリンタワーって、ランドマークができる前の横浜のシンボル的な〜」と勝手な説明をしていて、「マリンタワーは現役のシンボルじゃ！！！」と後ろから蹴りを入れたくなりました。
By the way, there was a couple walking in front of us, and the man explained to his girlfriend "Marine Tower used to be a symbol of Yokohama before Landmark Tower". Hey! It IS a symbol of Yokohama!! I really wanted to kick his ass to make him understand.

The photo on the right, Tokyo Sky Tree is in the center but very pale.

氷川丸。中は多分初めて。停泊していますが、軽く船酔いしました。
Hikawamaru boat. I think I had never got inside before. Although it was moored, I was sea-sick.

ゴージャスな一等船室の居間。The gorgeous salon of the First Class.

機械室。全体的にタイタニックを思い出してしまう。
The machine room. It remedied me of Titanic (the movie, you know).

ホテルニューグランドのThe CAFEで遅めランチ。これがこちらのホテル発祥というナポリンタンでございます。美味しかった〜。
A late lunch at The CAFE, Hotel New Grand. This spaghetti "Napolitan" is originated from the hotel. It was very good!

横浜シンボルタワーにも行きたかったけど、閉館時間でダメでした。。。息子の大好きな「あかいくつバス」に乗って家路に。このバスも乗車券でOKだし、もともと100円バスなのです。
We wanted to visit Yokohama Symbol Tower but it was too late. So we got on Red Shoes Bus, which is my son's favorite and headed home. We can also use the One-Day Pass. This little red bus goes round Sightseeing area of Yokohama and only ¥100.

根岸森林公園、ポニーセンター Negishi Forest Park and Pony Center

最近、子連れで気軽に行ける近場の市内散策が趣味になりつつあり、地図を見ては、「今度はここへ行ってみよう！」となるわけです。
We like visiting interesting places in Yokohama since we can't travel to far places with almost-2-year-old boy. I look up a map and decide, "Let's go there this weekend!".

今回は根岸森林公園と、隣の馬の博物館にあるポニーセンター。ちょうど思い立った日に、乗馬体験ができるということで、お弁当もって行きました。
This time, we visited Negishi Shinrin (Forest) park and Equine Museum of Japan with stands right next to the park. I found that we can try a pony ride on the very day so we hurried to the park with sandwiches in a bag.

根岸駅から歩いてみたら、まぁ、急な坂で…今度はバスにしようかな、と思いました…。20分くらいで公園の入口に到着。まずは馬の博物館へ行って、入館料（大人100円）を払ってから、一度外に出て昼食。
We went there on foot from Negishi station, but it's on a hill and we had to go up the steep slope. Well, we should take a bus next time. We arrived at the entrance in about 20 minutes. We first went to buy the tickets to the museum (¥100 for adult) and had a picnic lunch in the park.

ポニーセンターにて。入館券を見せると、ポニーの馬車や乗馬体験（小学生）ができるとのこと。馬車は0歳児も大人と一緒に乗れるので、こちらに乗せてもらいました。カールおじさんは、アレルギーも心配なので、カメラ係。チケットのチェック等を子供たちがやっていたのだけど、乗馬クラブの子なのかな？かっこいいね。
At the pony center in the museum, we showed the tickets and can try pony carriage or pony ride (elementary school kids). Babies can ride the carriage with adults so we tried this one, without Carl who was worried his allergy and decided to be a cameraperson. There were many kids counting the people on the queue, stamping on tickets etc... I think they belong to the club of the center. That's cool.

こちらは根岸森林公園。元々、洋式競馬場だったのが、戦時中に（見晴らしがいいため）軍の施設となり、敗戦後に米軍に接収されたらしい。そしてそれが返還され、広い公園になったそうです。だから、今も周辺に米軍の施設があります。公園のど真ん中にもゲートがあって、おそらく住居とかだと思う。
This is Negishi Shinrin Park. There used to be a Western style horse race course around here but the Japan Navy used the place because they can see across the port from there during the war. And then Japan lost and it was occupied by the US troops. It was returned, and the city made it a huge park. There are still some American areas around there. We found a gate in the middle of the park and there seems to be a housing area of the states.

最も印象的なのが、旧一等観覧席。この建物の利用法は市が検討中らしい。
I was very much impressed by the former first-class stand of the racecourse. So big and gorgeous. The city is considering how to revive this building now.

公園でピエは転んで、ひざを擦りむいてしまいました。ズボンも少しやぶけてた。かわいそうに。。。でもだいたい食べ物ですぐに機嫌が直ります。しばらくはお風呂の時に傷跡を指してた。
Pierre fell in the park and scraped his knee. His trousers were slightly torn, too. Poor boy, but he soon turns happy with some snacks. He pointed at the scar at bath-times for a while (curios?).

帰りは山手駅へ向かおうと地図とにらめっこしていたのですが、米軍施設から出てきたお兄さんのあとをつけたら、案の定駅にたどりつけました（笑）
On the way back, we wanted to go to Yamate station and I was looking for the short-cut in the map, then we saw a man walking down from the US area and we followed him to get to the station!
